Itinerary
Day 1: Taipei – Sun Moon Lake
Surrounded by undulating hills and mountains, spectacular Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan’s largest natural lake. Separated by Lalu Island, the lake is divided into two. One side resemble a moon while the other the sun. Breath-taking views of sunrise and sunset across the lake is second to none here.
With its numerous cycling tracks, different grades of walking trails, amusement parks, cultural village of the indigenous tribes like the Thao, there lots to see and do at Sun Moon Lake. Explore the lake with a boat tour across the water, enjoying its cool breeze, stopping at pagodas, temples and aboriginal village. To get a bird’s eye view of the lake, take the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway which is much like a cable car ride.
There’s nothing like a having a leisurely walk on the broad-walk surrounding the lake during dusk. Watch the trees sway gently in the evening breeze and the occasional sparkle of gold as the sun’s ray catches the ripples across the water. Day 2: Sun Moon Lake – Puli – Taipei
From Sun Moon Lake, we make our way to Puli, home of the Shaoshing Wine. Located in the lush pristine valley and famous for its local spring water, Puli Brewery is a good stop for an insight into Taiwan’s history and culture of wine and beer making. Shop for wine related food products and snacks here. Next is Paper Dome, a unique chapel made of paper. Take in its interesting history and wander around the beautiful flower garden and its scenic lake.
Enjoy the drive back to Taipei.
