Taste of Taichung – Day Tour

CheCheng train station is the last stop of the Jiji Line. It’s full of rich history and renowned for its scenic old world charm. With its humble beginnings as a logging town during the Japanese colonial rule, it is now a beautiful town full of attractions, like CheCheng’s Logging Museum, Ecological Pond for the storage of logs and CheCheng’s Old Street. The former has woodcraft activities and souvenirs while the latter is full of rustic architectural charm. As it has retained most of its old historic past, it’s a pleasure to wander through the small lanes and try the many local delicious snacks available. Don’t forget to take home its famous snack – wooden meal box! You will not find another town quite like CheCheng.

Jiji is much like CheCheng, with one of Taiwan’s few old railway station and streets full of things to see and tons of food to sample. Besides enjoying short train rides, hire a bicycle for a dash of adventure. Lots of photo opportunities awaits you here!

Our last stop is timed such that you don’t miss the incredible sunset at Gaomei Wetland. It’s a top attraction with amazing views of the marshes and its nearby wind turbines. Take a stroll down its broad-walk or try a feet mud dip at the end. Don’t forget a warm jacket as it can get windy and chilly here!
